A Team with Purpose

Our Team

We are career brokers for attorneys, growth strategists for legal teams, and, most importantly, we are people who care about helping people. We approach recruiting with a unique blend of friendly compassion and corporate sophistication. While we can’t guarantee the outcome of an interview or placement, we do our best to ensure everyone we meet receives individualized professional consulting.

Success, therefore, isn’t defined by the number of placements we make, but by the way our colleagues feel after our collaborations. We’re proud that the feedback is resounding and consistently positive: The Lawt team makes people feel seen and valued through challenging career and hiring decisions.

OWNER MANAGING DIRECTOR

Katie’s resolute commitment to disrupt the status quo is the heartbeat of The Lawt and its community. Katie is an authority in attorney career development, talent acquisition and law firm growth, but it is her authentic and disarming approach to business that distinguishes her work and drives the purpose-driven mission of The Lawt. Katie collaborates with in-house legal teams, executive directors, and shareholders of law firms to strategically grow their businesses. She advises lawyers to think beyond immediate career transitions and consider the implications of each decision on their professional arc and narrative.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

I earned my BA from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR and have over 15 years of experience managing small businesses. At The Lawt, I oversee candidate sourcing, DEI efforts and company operations and love that my role plays a part in all aspects of this engaging work. The rest of my time is filled spending time with family – my husband, two energetic boys and two even more energetic dogs.

Human Resources Manager

I went to the University of Northern Colorado where I earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and played on the women’s golf team. I have 9 years of experience in human resources and talent acquisition. At The Lawt, I lead our HR department and heavily support operations, sourcing and staff recruiting. I love building relationships with candidates and learning from and about them. My husband and I live in Parker, Colorado and we have two fur babies that we adore, Wilbur and Foxy Cleopatra.

10 Reasons Partners Lateral

After a decade of recruiting and supporting attorneys, I’ve compiled the most common reasons partners lateral their practices.

5 Benefits to Prioritizing Partnerships with Women- and Minority-Owned Businesses

The Lawt is a certified Women-Owned Business by the WBENC, but our certification is often overlooked and undervalued. Despite their professed importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, law firms’ commitment to these values is questionable if their business decisions are inconsistent with that commitment. If dubious credibility isn’t motivating, law firms should consider these five compelling benefits to prioritizing partnerships with certified women- and minority-owned organizations:
